This vintage style fiberglass Cafe Racer tail section is for 70s era Honda CB500s (1971-1973) and CB550s built from 1974 to 1978. The bike pictured is a 1972 CB500 with a 1975 CB550 engine. CafeRace, Inc.feels extremely fortunate that Perry Bushong found us worthy and offered up his re-design of our Knoscher replica for us to market, in fact we are feeling a little like Wayne and Garth right about now. This seat differs from the traditional Knoscher only in the rear... The dimensional picture below is of the original BMW Knoscher Replica, but the fitment dimensions are the same. The key difference is that the rounded section extends past the bracket (and the end of your frame) by 3 inches. Universal CafeRace Tail
Code: CR0350
Price: $175.00
Shipping Weight: 10.00 pounds
A new vintage style fiberglass Cafe Racer tail section for 70s era UJMs (Universal Japanese Motorcycle). The Blue-tanked Bike is a mid-70s Honda CB550 and the Yellow is a 1975 Yamaha XS650. This seat will fit a multitude of vintage two-wheelers. We recommend using flat steel from your local hardware store to secure the seat from underneath the frame rails that the seat sits on top of. Delivered in hard-shell white gelcoat, ready for primer and paint, you will need to mount it to the frame and upholster. We will have our usual 3/4" thick die-cut foam seat pads shortly so that you can start cushioning for very low cost. This is a cool old seat, and is pulled from a vintage mold. The seat (that relatively flat part where your ponderous bulk rests) has some imperfections in it. In fact, some of our more discerning customers might claim that Og and his brother Ooog took turns chiseling part of it with barely sharpened stones. So....there is a visible flaw, but it is exactly where it will be covered up. We want to be up-front about it, but also assure you that it will be covered by whatever upholstery you choose to sit on (spray glued foam or your custom-made upholstery.)
These parts are still gelcoat, and as such unfinished and needing sanding, primer and paint. DO NOT EXPECT TO PUT THIS ON YOUR BIKE AND HAVE A SHOW QUALITY BIKE WITHOUT FINAL BODY WORK. IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE WAY THAT THE SEAT PAN LOOKS, AND YOU CAN'T GET OVER IT, THIS SEAT IS NOT FOR YOU. DO NOT PURCHASE IT, EXPECTING YOU CAN RETURN IT BECAUSE OF THIS FLAW, OR LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK BECAUSE OF THIS FLAW WHICH IS CLEARLY IDENTIFIED IN THIS LISTING. IF WE HAVEN'T MADE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR, PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE YOU PURCHASE, AND WE WILL HIRE AN INTERPRETER, WHO CAN YELL LOUDER THAN US VIA ALL-CAPS TEXT.
If this seat is a hit we will re-do the mold and get rid of the blemish. If however, it is not popular, we will curse it, abuse it and it will die an ignominious death on the scrapbin of motorcycling history. If you are unsure whether or not the seat pan will fit your bike, measure your frame and consult the dimensions in the photo.
